Rehdi-Fadi Worker Union held one day protest demonstration
Pledges to intensify United struggle against traffic police’s move to lift their Rahdi-Fadi

Jammu, March 22, (Scoop News)-Rehdi-Fadi Workers Union-Jammu, held its 4th demonstration under the banner of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) at Bakshi Park near Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar –Jammu to protest against the draconian move of the traffic police to lift Rehdi-Fadis of poor workers whom livelihood depend only on this small self-employed job. A large number of Rehdi-Fadi workers across the Jammu city attended the protest and shouting anti administration slogans demanding restoration of their Rehdi-Fadi.
Addressing the protesting workers, M.Y. Tarigami President of CITU & MLA condemned the move of traffic police- Jammu that rendering hundreds of these poor daily earners jobless. The constitution of our country provides that it is duty of government to give job to its citizen and in case if the government fails citizen has the right to do his any self employed job to earn livelihood for his family, he said. The innocent poor workers were also brutally beaten by traffic police and unlawfully detained them in the lock up for one or two days without any reason, he said. Further, he added that the purchasable materials and cash was also snatch by the traffic police, they also suffered a huge loss of material and cash, and disallow them to run their self-employment for more than one month. He urged upon the present dispensation to permit the poor workers to reinstall their Rehdi-Fadi at their existing place, pay compensation to the poor workers for the loss they suffered , and strict action against the person responsible for unlawfully detention of poor workers .
General Secretary, CITU, Om Parkash while addressing said that the government agency particularly the traffic police has created havoc by forcibly evicting Rehdi-Fadi of workers who belong to down trodden section of our society and depriving these poor vendors to feed their families. He said that a memorandum of demands of Rehdi-Fadi workers was handed over to Division Commissioner – Jammu on 14.03.2018 but still nothing done in this regard . He urged upon all workers to intensify their struggle till their demands are met.
Sham Parsad Kesar Senior leader CITU in his address said that government needs to become facilitator in allowing its vast poor population to earn their livelihood by starting their small ventures, but it looks extremely strange that one of its premier agencies has rendered them jobless and government seems to be a silent spectator.
Other spoke on this occasion Jagdish Sharma, Jia Lal parihar, Om Parkash, President Rehdi-Fadi Union demanded early restoration of their earning by allowing them to engage with their Rehdi-Fadis so that this marginalized section of the society is able to earn their livelihood and to live with dignified life.
