| Army celebrates 'world forestry day' in Poonch and Rajouri districts | | Jammu, March 21, (Scoop News)- Endorsing its commitment to preserve the environment, Indian Army organised awareness lecture and plantation drive on the occasion of “World Forestry Day” at Govt Higher Secondary School, Daraba, Govt Boys Higher Secondary School, Mendhar, Youth Centre Chhatral, Youth Centre JWG, Govt Middle School Jhullas, Youth Centre Thanamandi and Company Operating Base, Pir Baba in Poonch and Rajouri districts on 21 March 2018. The aim of the event was to spread awareness about environment protection and inculcate the habit of tree plantation amongst the local populaces, specially the young impressionable winds.
During the events, it was emphasised that there is a need to preserve our natural resource and environment for the benefit of the future generations and the same should be promoted as part of education curriculum in schools. The audience was exhorted upon to every day treat every day as 'Van Mahotsav' and plant trees to keep the environment green, clean, safe and healthy.
