IISM overcomes snow deficiency to complete 6th ski course at Gulmarg

Srinagar, March 21, (Scoop News)- Despite poor snow conditions IISM Gulmarg was able to complete its 6th ski course here today. An impressive graduation ceremony was held in the Institute premises where Mr Ravideep Sahi IG CRPF Srinagar was the chief guest. More than 80 students from all over India participated in the two week basic, intermediate and advance ski courses conducted currently by the Institute.


Mr JS Dhliion, Principal of IISM welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries and briefed them about various adventure courses being under taken by the Institute. He said institute was defunct till few years back but has now been revived fully with dedicated efforts of the staff and support of local authorities. The institute provides accommodation to its students in a modern centrally heated building. It has modern ski equipment and machinery of international standards to impart training to students. Mr Dhillon said adventure courses are the best options to develop the desired traits of personality in our youth. Such training creates huge employment opportunities to the youth of local areas. He said many renowned schools are now part of the institute and are demanding more vacancies to train their students through IISM Gulmarg. Institute plays very important role to promote tourism in Gulmarg and all its courses are oversubscribed due to its huge popularity.


Mr Sahi, complimented the principal and staff of IISM for running IISM in a highly professional way. He emphasized role of adventure training in one’s life and underlined its need to produce good leaders of the Nation. Being himself an adventure lover he motivated the students to not miss any opportunity in life to undertake such activities. CRPF sponsored 15 service personnel in this course who also passed out with this batch. He appreciated the efforts of the institute to train many local youth free of cost out of whom many have become National champions . He said CRPF plans to put more soldiers in ski courses and to enable these to participate in the National Championships. He said such courses are also live example of diverse culture integration of our youth from different parts of the Nation.

Mr Alok Srivastava Comdt 49 Bn of CRPF was the guest of honor. Mrs Madulika Srivastava also joined the course along with her daughter and also sponsored 5 children of CRPF soldiers through an NGO run by DG, CRPF. Ceremony concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners of different events....
