| Div Com for timely desilting of irrigation canals | |
Jammu, March 20, (Scoop News)-Divisional Commissioner Hemant Kumar Sharma convened a meeting with the officers of concerned departments to review the desilting works for various irrigation canals, here today.
The meeting was attended by Director Agriculture, H.K Razdan, Joint director RDD Champa Thakur, SE EM&RE Sandeep Seth, Xen Irrigation Jammu, Xen Irrigation Akhnoor along with other district officers of the concerned department.
During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held about various works regarding desilting of khuls in Jammu, Samba and Kathua.
Divisional Commissioner directed for undertaking desilting works for khuls through convergence mode with Rural Development Department under MGNREGA scheme. He further directed RDD to take up desilting works on Khuls that could not be taken up last year.
Div Com also directed the Irrigation Department to gear up their men and machinery to ensure cleaning of the khuls before 10th of April.
He also directed the concerned department to work in tandem and ensure completion of the desilting work in time so that farmers and local populace don’t face any problems.
