| BJP: All rhetoric; no delivery, says Rana | |
Dansal,March 19, (Scoop News)-National Conference Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana on Monday lambasted BJP for exploiting Jammu sentiment for votes, saying the promises made turned out to be hoax, as there is nothing to showcase on deliverance front.
“Borders are reverberating with shells, spilling blood of innocents but the much touted bunkers, safe shelter sheds and plots are nowhere to be seen despite the BJP ruling the Centre for the past four years and partnering government with its Xerox copy PDP for over three years”, Mr Rana said while interacting with people during his extensive tour of Dansal Block in Nagrota Assembly Constituency.
The Provincial President asked a pointed question to the BJP as to what has been done during the past four years to deescalate tension along Line of Control and International Border, which has rendered the entire border population almost shelter-less, as they are forced to abandon their houses every other day due to continued shelling from across the border. While showing immense degree of sensitivity to the suggestions of engaging Pakistan in a meaningful dialogue for the sake of peace on borders, the BJP has not even attempted to carry out its much touted hot pursuits, he said and counseled for initiating talks with Islamabad to end hostility, biggest beneficiaries of which would be the people of Jammu region in particular.
Mr Rana expressed concern over administrative and developmental inertia, as a result of which the people of Jammu have suffered the most despite promising moon by the BJP. He dared the ruling coalition partner to come out with a record sheet as to what has been done for Jammu ever-since it donned the crown of ‘misgovernance’.
“Except for emotive slogans, the BJP has nothing to offer to Jammu”, he said and spelled out its failures on all fronts, especially development and unemployment. The educated youth, he said, were feeling fatigue due to lack of jobs and whatsoever available being distributed among kin and favoured ones. He said mere thought of shrinking jobs is making the educated besides skilled and unskilled youth restive. He said the BJP has abused the mandate and bruised the Jammu pride.
Describing the BJP as ungrateful, Mr Rana said the massive mandate given by the people of Jammu has been responded with contempt. “The BJP has been exploiting the Jammu sentiment for the past nearly seven decades and when time of reckoning came, they betrayed and back-stabbed the people”, he said while terming the present dispensation in the state as ineffective and fraught with the danger of fragmenting Jammu and Kashmir.
However, the MLA Nagrota said, the people of Jammu have realized their mistake of trusting a party, which was never sincere to its words. He asked the BJP to read writing on the wall and realize its responsibility towards the people, whose problems have accumulated during the past three years. He cautioned the BJP not to test the patience of people, who have the power to oust those whom they voted three years ago in the mistaken belief of Jammu’s progress and development.
MLA Mr Rana sanctioned four cremation sheds and a central park at Dhansal. He also initiated work on two link roads and two ponds in the area.
