Authorities refutes allegations regarding demolition drive | | Rajouri, March 19, (Scoop News)-Authorities in the district administration have strongly refuted the allegations being circulated on social media in the name of some organizations against the drive for removal of encroachments. A spokesperson of the district administration said that cognizance has been taken about a provocative press note circulated on social media alleging that demolition drive was aimed at targeting particular community. While terming the statement as devoid of any basis and aimed at creating law and order situation, the spokesmen added that uniform yardstick of law has been applied to all encroachers. It was further informed that the anti-encroachment drive is planned and executed based on the requirement of developmental projects, nature of encroachments and timeline for developmental projects to be implemented. The drive is an ongoing process and will continue as per plan. Process has already been set into motion for issuing notices to more than 300 persons for removal of their structures. It is apprehended that some people under the garb of identity politics are attempting to evade the legal action against the illegal encroachments which is likely in near future following due process of law. Administration has advised the groups to refrain from making such public comments which can vitiate the atmosphere and law will take its own course in such cases . Senior officers have expressed anguish over the statement in name of some organizations circulated by some youth without valid reasons. It is pertinent to mention here that delegations of Beopar Mandal, BJP District Unit and City residents met the Deputy Commissioner, SSP and other officers today and extended voluntary cooperation for continuing the anti-encroachment drive. An inter-departmental team is already on the job of marking further encroachments. Use of name of religious organizations for evading legal action has been strongly condemned by various organizations.
