One-week workshop on “Practical Skill Enhancements” for college teachers concludes


Jammu, January 16, (Scoop News)-One-week workshop on Practical Skill Enhancements for college teachers in Zoology concluded today with the valedictory function at Surinsar. Prof. B.D. Joshi, a renowned environmentalist from Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar was the Chief Guest, who in his impressive lecture gave elaborate information about the present status of aquatic sources and also enlightened the participants with the practical analysis of various physiochemical parameters. He also applauded the efforts of the Department of Zoology for conducting such type of academic activities that will be helpful in generating and boosting the scientific temper in the participants.

This workshop was attended by teachers of various colleges viz. Poonch, Rajouri, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Doda, Sunderbani, Kathua, Ramban, Reasi, Mendhar, Udhampur, Akhnoor, Paloura, Samba, Duroo and Sopore.

In this one week workshop, the entire programme was spread over 12 technical sessions having one lead lecture every day followed by practical demonstrations and analysis which were done under the supervision of Faculty members of the Department of Zoology.

In the brief report presented by Prof. Seema Langer, Head, Department of Zoology, she expressed her gratitude to various speakers viz. Prof. W.S. Lakra, Prof. N.K. Aggarwal, Prof. Jagbir Singh Kirti, Prof. Suresh Bihari Lall, Prof. Fayaz Malik and Prof. B.D. Joshi. She advised the participants to be more focused and said that they should adapt for a more comprehensive approach for strengthening the practical skills. Prof. Langer also thanked College teachers for extending cooperation for the smooth conduct of the workshop.

Among the participants, Dr. Ranvijay Singh, Dr. Aurangzeb Anjum, Dr. Chanchal, Prof. Sumita Rao also shared their experiences and gave a healthy and positive feedback about the workshop. The participants praised the department for arranging this event, first of its own kind. They also shared their views on the practical demonstrations and said it will prove very beneficial to them as these were according to the course curriculum of the theory courses being taught in the colleges. They also applauded the arrangements and hospitality made during this workshop.
