Army organizes Army Day celebrations



Jammu,January 15, (Scoop News)-To commemorate the Army Day, a series of events to include Wreath laying, Veterans meet, Communal Harmony meet, Know your Army mela, Lectures, Essay writing and Medical camp were organised at Akhnoor, Bhadarwah, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban and Banihal among other places.
On this occasion a Wreath laying ceremony was also conducted at the statue of Naib Subedar Chuni Lal, Ashok Chakra, Vir Chakra, Sena Medal at Bhadarwah. At Banihal, an IED detection drill by using Army dogs, Medical camp, Awareness camp on various youth empowerment schemes and motivational talk were organised with an aim of building national integration. Lectures on “Join Indian Army” was organised at Sondar, Drangdhuran and Cherji. Weapons Display and Seminars on Know your Army was organised at Padhyarna, Malar, Banihal, Thatri, Patnazi and Shergwari region of Kishtwar. An essay writing competition for school children on the theme Army's role in nation building was conducted at Kishtwar. A Student's Awareness Program was organised at Tender Feet School, Keri to create awareness among young children about the rich history of Indian Army and its contribution in national integration.
A solemn wreath laying ceremony was held at the Warriors Grove of the Crossed Swords Division where General Officer Commanding, Crossed Swords Division alongwith officers and men paid homage and rich tribute to the gallant martyrs who made supreme sacrifice in the defence of the nation.
Hundreds of locals including Ex Serviceman, Veer Naris, students & youth participated and witnessed the events organised by the Army.
