| Urgain Loondup attains superannuation | |
Leh(Ladakh), January 15, (Scoop News)-Urgain Loondup a member of Kashmir Administrative Service has retired from Government service on 31st Dec. 2017 from the post of General Manager DIC Leh. He worked in the rank of Joint Director Industries at the time of his retirement. He has joined Govt. Service on 5th Sept,1981 as Tourist Officer Ladakh and worked at Tourist Reception Center Srinagar in the Directorate of Tourism J&K. His name appeared in the “Lonely Planet Travel Guide” when he used to guide the tourist (both foreign and domestic) who travelled to Ladakh by road and air from Srinagar. He received appreciation from the Ambassador of Germany, Ambassador of Israel and Ambassador of European Union for his service. Also he received appreciation from the Commissioner Secretary Tourism J&K, Director General Tourism J&K, Managing Director JKTDC, Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC Leh ,Chairman LAHDC Leh ,Director Industries and Commerce Kashmir, Members of Lok Sabha/Rajya Sabha for his honesty and dedicated service. He has worked in the J&K Tourism Department for 32 years at various places like Leh, Kargil, Kashmir, Jammu and New Delhi in various capacities like Tourist Officer, Assistant Director Tourism, Dy.Director Tourism and Chief Executive Officer, Tourism Development Authority. After his induction into KAS in 2010 he has worked as Dy.Director Tribal Affairs Jammu, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kargil and SDM Zanskar for 4 years and this way he has served to the Government for more than thirty six years (36).
His major contribution is in building the tourism industry in Leh District in particular ever since the Government declared tourism as an Industry in 1994 in the State. He has contributed by creating more than 700 bed capacities in the private sector (Hotels and Guest Houses in Leh district) by providing Capital Outright Investment Subsidy(CIOS) in crores .He has also contributed in preparing project proposal for creation of Nubra Development Authority. While working as CEO, Tourism Development Authority Leh, he has contributed in developing tourist infrastructures in various tourism destinations in Leh District and also he has brought out a tourist literature pertaining to Tourist Village Tegar Summor in Nubra valley in the form of a brochure and grid map.
While working as CEO, Tourism Development Authority Kargil ,he has contributed in out sourcing the Darchik Tourist Banglow, Tourist Cafeteria TFC Kargil and establishment of reception counter at TFC Kargil and putting up of sign board at Mina Marg (Zogila) and Heniskot (Bodh Kharboo). He has also contributed in restoration of the Sangnag-Chos1jng Monastery at Bodh Kharboo.
