J&K Chapter of Forum of SC ST Legislators & Parliamentarian framed
Zulfkar elected Chairman, Gurezi as President

Jammu, January 14, (Scoop News)-“J&K Chapter of Forum of SC and ST Legislators and Parliamentarians of India has been constituted by unanimously electing Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs & Tribal Affairs as Chairman while Nazir Ahmed Gurezi, Deputy J&K Speaker Legislative Assembly as President of the Forum.
In this regard a meeting was held under chairmanship of National Working President Sardar Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal at Jammu in which body was announced for J&K Chapter of the Forum. Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs & Tribal Affairs was unanimously elected as Chairman while Nazir Ahmed Gurezi, Deputy J&K Speaker Legislative Assembly as President of the Forum.
Dr Krishan Lal Bhagat, MLA Chambh and Asghar Ali Karbali MLA Kargil have been elected as Vice Presidents, Javaid Rana MLA Mendher as Vice Chairman. Neelam Lengah MLA Ramban, Delden Namgiyal MLA Nobra and Chowdhary Qamar Hussain MLA Rajouri have been elecyed as General Secretaries.
The Forum has also announced the name of Chering Dorjey, Minister for Cooperatives and Chowdhary Abdul Gani Kohli Minister for Sheep, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries as Co Organisers of the Forum.
As per official handout of the Forum, Balbir Ram Rattan Vice Chairman of SC & ST Development Corporation, Bhushan Lal Dogra Vice Chairman of SC Advisory Board, Ch Gulzar Ahmed Khatana Vice Chairman Gujjar & Bakerwal Advisory Board, Aijaz Ahmed Khan Former Minister and MLA, Kuldeel Raj MLA Mamtaz Ahmed Khan MLA, Davinder Maniyal MLA, Dina Nath Bhagat MLA, Dr Gagan Bhagat MLA, Ram Pal Former Minister and Prem Lal Former MLA as Executive Members of the Forum. As per handout all sitting and ex-legislators and parliamentarians will be members of the Forum.
The meeting was attended by Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs & Tribal Affairs , Chering Dorjey, Minister for Cooperatives , Chowdhary Abdul Gani Kohli Minister for Sheep, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Nazir Ahmed Gurezi, Deputy J&K Speaker Legislative Assembly, Balbir Ram Rattan Vice Chairman of SC & ST Development Corporation, Kuldeel Raj MLA Mamtaz Ahmed Khan MLA, Chowdhary Qamar Hussain MLA Rajouri , Dr Krishan Lal Bhagat, MLA Chambh , Asghar Ali Karbali MLA Kargil, Javaid Rana MLA Mendher, Neelam Lengah MLA Ramban , Devinder maniyal MLA Samba, Kuldeep Raj MLA Hiranagar, Delden Namgiyal MLA Nobra beside others.
The Forum decided to highlight the grievances of the downtrodden and suppressed classes especially Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled castes living in Jammu & Kashmir. The Forum will also remain in touch with central leadership for welfare of SC & ST community of the society.
Forum leaders put light on the aims and objectives of the Forum which included creating of atmosphere for best suitable brotherhood through modern means and methods, to know about the problems of Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes and to redress them and to spread the awareness between the Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes communities about their political, social and religious rights.

Forum leaders said that the Forum want to strengthen the functioning and powers of Commissions, Boards, Corporations and other related Government organizations and non- Government organizations and matters related to the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes at national level as well as State Level. They said that Forum will ensure the flow of targeted financial and physical benefits from the general sector of development to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes besides to work for flow of funds and associated benefits from the annual plan of state.
The Forum also want to achieve complete literacy and to work for promotion of education and sports among the youth belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, besides to work towards elimination of practice of Child Labour and to take appropriate steps for their rehabilitation. They added that there is line of action prepared in the Forum which will be followed to get justice for depressed classes in the state.
