AIFPA to organise a National Workshop on 'Challenges and Opportunities in Production and Marketing of Organic Foods' on Jan 19 next year
foretells organic farming has huge potential to generate jobs in Jammu and Kashmir.




New Delhi, December 29, (Scoop News Bureau)-All India Food Processors’ Association(AIFPA) is organizing a National Workshop on “Challenges and Opportunities in the Production & Marketing of Organic Foods” on January 19th , 2018 in Jammu with the collaboration with Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority(APEDA).



In a statement, AIFPA said Jammu and Kashmir is one of the hilly States having lot of potential for organic farming and organic food processing.


The state was growing organic foods till 1960 or earlier years and is now again returning to organic farming. Organic farming has huge potential to generate jobs in Jammu and Kashmir during the course of next few years. Organic farming and processing will lead to wealth accumulation and generate exports for the country and add to the economy of the State, said the statement.


The statement said with the adoption of organic farming and processing will help in increasing the net per capita income of a farmers and the food processors in the State by manifolds .Some of the districts like Kathua, Kupwara, Leh, Poonch, Pulwama, Rajouri, Srinagar, Udhampur, Samba and Reasi have lot of potential for organic farming and the farmers have been following the practices for organic farming due to no use of chemicals thereby making most of the area suitable for organic farming by default.


Jammu could be considered as one of the strategic locations for the processing & marketing of Organic Processed Foods and to bring more awareness and impetus to improve Organic Farming & Processing in this hilly State of the country All India Food Processors’ Association planned to organise this workshop here in Jammu, the statement added.


"We are inviting experts to present their views on the opportunities in the Production and Marketing of Organic Foods including senior officers from the State /Central Govt. Departments /Organisations.We expect a participation 60-70 participants from the Food Processing Industries, Research Institutions, Regulatory Authorities and Certifying Agencies etc. to participate in this Workshop," the statement said..


AIFPA urged the participants to spare their valuable time for the Inaugural Session of the Workshop on “Challenges and Opportunities in the Production and Marketing of Organic Foods” starting at 10:00AM on Friday, the 19th January, 2018....
