DGP visits Drug-de-addiction centre Jammu
Our neighbouring country involved in Narco-terrorism; Planning to open de-addiction centers in all districts : Dr. Vaid


Jammu, December 09, (Scoop News)-Opening and running drug de-addiction centers in the state is an attempt by J&K Police to help the affected people to come out of tentacles of drug menace. This was stated by Director General of Police Dr. S.P. Vaid during an interaction at drug de-addiction centre Jammu.

He said, that police alone can’t fight against the drug menace and added that police need help of all sections of society particularly judiciary, lawyers in getting drug peddlers punished. The DGP said, civil society has to come forward in eradicating the menace of drugs from the state.

Dr. S.P Vaid also said that our neighbouring country is involved in narco-terrorism and its aim is to ruin youth of our state. He said, J&K police is planning to open de-addiction centers in all the districts of state so that drug de-addiction services are easily available and accessible to people across the state particularly the far off places. Thanking the government for providing land for drug de-addiction center at Srinagar, DGP appealed it to provide land in Jammu and in districts to enhance the capacity to fight the drugs in the state.

While interacting with patients Director General of Police advised them to take care of their health and be determined to come of addiction. He advised them to take full use of the facilities provided at the centre.

Earlier, SP Hqrs. Shri Ramesh Kotwal briefed the DGP about the de-addiction center. He said that following PHQ directions and under IGP Jammu supervision, Drug de-addiction centre was started on 5th April 2013 as an outpatient facility and later in December 2016 it has been converted into 20 bedded hospital, which is functioning round the clock. He also highlighted the preventive and action taken by Jammu Police against drug trafficking and against peddlers. Dr Gurmeet Kour incharge of the de-addiction center gave a detailed presentation about the working of the center.

Senior officers Spl. DGP PHQ, Shri V.K Singh, IGP (Hqrs.) PHQ, Shri Surinder Gupta, DIG JSK Range, Shri Rafiq-ul-Hassan, SSP Jammu, Shri Vivek Gupta, AIG (Prov.) PHQ, Sheikh Junaid, AIG (Buidling) PHQ, Shri Abdul Waheed, SE PHQ, Shri Rashid Mustafa, AIG (Communication) PHQ, Shri Manoj Kumar Pandit, Medical Superintendent Police Hospital, Jammu, Dr. K.B Sharma were present. Family members of the recovered patients and staff of drug de-addiction centre Jammu also participated in this interaction programme.
