Reformative measures afoot to ensure quality education in govt schools: Priya
Aims to create a progressive education scenario in the state
Jammu, November 18, (Scoop News)-The Government has taken various reformative measures to provide upgraded infrastructure with special focus on quality education in government schools throughout the state especially in far flung areas.
Minister of State for Education, Culture and Tourism Priya Sethi stated this while speaking during the inaugural ceremony of new building block at Government High School, Leher, Akhnoor here today.
The inaugurated building has 6 class rooms constructed with at a cost of Rs 68 lakh.
The Minister said that the young generation is the future and for a better future , the government is resolute to serve the future generation with quality education along with upgraded infrastructural facilities in schools and other educational institutions.
Reiterating the commitment of coalition government, the Minister said that the available resources needed to be utilized to its fullest to achieve the envisaged goal of providing modern education in government schools.
She said that the government is working with an aim to expand the reach of quality education to create a progressive education scenario in the state.
The Minister applauded MLA Akhnoor Rajeev Sharma for his efforts in bringing the public utility services at the doorsteps of the people.
Priya Sethi gave on spot directions for development of Badminton court in the school premises and assured the school authority that all their genuine demands and concerned issues will be considered.
The Minister also asked the school authority to make concerted efforts to increase the enrollment of students in the school.
“More educated the people are, more developed the area is”, the Minister asserted.
Calling for developing a learning of cultural values; the Minister said that the government is taking initiatives by starting culture clubs to impart the cultural education among youth.
Highlighting various development works, the Minister appreciated the work done by District Administrations for building boundary walls of various government schools in convergence with MNREGA and said that the work will be started soon in left out schools .
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Akhnoor Rajeev Sharma said that the learning environment has an effectivev impact on overall development of students. More steps are being taken up to further improve the education scenario in the constituency, he added.
Earlier, the Minister inaugurated a building block of 3ACR constructed under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Plan at Govt. High School, Sungal, Akhnoor.
Taking the requirement and need of the locals into consideration, Priya directed for upgradation of school from High school to Higher secondary.
The locals hailed the Minister for announcing the upgradation of School thus fulfilling their long pending demand.
Regarding cleanliness in and around school premises, Priya directed the concerned officers for construction of new sanitation facility in theschool to provide a hygienic environment to the students.
Priya also addressed the issue of repair and renovation of school’s old building structures.
The Minister directed the concerned officers of education department to pay regular visits to the schools in remote areas to ensure their proper functioning.
Later, the Minister visited the Mango Village in Sumbal and directed the concerned officers to prepare a viable marketing strategy to benefit the farmers at large. She said that the augmentation of new water resources is proving to be an advantage in fulfilling the objective of developing Mango Village to benefit the fruit farmers.
Pertinently, the Mango village is being established by the Department of Horticulture in the area with a cost of RS 4 crore. The department has set a target of covering an area of 100 hectares over a span of four years. In the first phase, 25 hectare area has been covered.
Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, Director School Education Jammu, Ravinder Singh, Joint Director Education, Jammu Charanjeet Singh, Chief Education Officer, J.K Sudan, Deputy Director Floriculture, Ashok Gupta ,SDM Akhnoor Sunaina Sharma ,Chief Horticulture Officer,L.Bali ,XEN Tourism Pramod Sharma, AEE Tourism Neeraj Sharma and senior functionaries of concerned departments also accompanied the Minister.
