Jammu, November 18, (Scoop News)- The three-day 8th annual international conference of the Comparative Education Society of India (CESI) 2017 on the theme “Criticality, Empathy and Welfare in Contemporary Educational Discourses” concluded here today at the Brigadier Rajinder Singh auditorium. Delivering his valedictory address on the theme “The transgressive nature of interdisciplinary knowledge: A perspective from the philosophy of science”, Prof Raina threw light on various dimensions of multidisciplinary, inter-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary approaches in teaching and research. The concept of inter-disciplinary, he said, is over 100 year old in the contemporary ecologies of knowledge and it is here to stay, he added.

“My main concern is if we are experiencing the sense of loss or is it being considered as genesis of knowledge,” he said adding no discipline knows more than all disciplines and that is why there must be inter-disciplinary approach. We much transcribe the nature of science and education together. Science needs transmission of knowledge because common people cannot understand science. He added that the current crisis of knowledge consists of two processes - the democratization of knowledge, and privatization of knowledge.
