| Army drive on “beti bachao beti padhao” at thanda pani, Rajouri district | | Jammu, November 16, (Scoop News)- The Army organised an awareness drive on “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao” at Government High School, Thanda Pani in Rajouri district for local populace and students on 16 November 2017. “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” is a Government of India initiative that aims to generate awareness and improving the efficiency of welfare services meant for women.
The aim of the event was to bring awareness among the locals and school children about role and importance of girl child in family and society to ensure their protection and empower them by providing equal educational and career opportunities. The speaker also brought out the need to save the girl child, as imbalance in the ratio of girls to boys will cause problems in the society.
The awareness drive was well received by the audience and they acknowledged that the women in the villages also need to be provided same education and employment opportunities as boys.
