SOS International observes “Black Day”
Oct 22 not just “Black Day” but “Black Spot” on Nation: Chuni

Jammu, October 22, (Scoop News)-S. O. S. International - An organization for PoK Displaced Persons under the chairmanship of Rajiv Chuni today observed October 22 as “Black Day” when Muzaffarabad district of J&K was first attacked by Tribal in 1947 which was designed and organized by Pakistan. The function was held at Master Devi Chand Park in Jammu in which thousands of PoK DPs participated and remembered martyrs by paying them floral tributes. PoK DPs wore black badges and lodged their protest against the Tribal attack on their ancestors on October 22, 1947 when Tribal was hired by Pakistan with a conspiracy to change the demography of J&K by executing genocide of thousands of Hindus and Sikhs.
While addressing the function, S. O. S. International Chairman, Rajiv Chuni stated that October 22 is not only a “Black Day” but it’s a black spot in the history of this country and State as well because thousands of people were killed, women were raped, young women were abducted and their whereabouts is still unknown moreover, it’s not a Black Day for PoK DPs but it’s the Black Day for entire Nation as PoK DPs was the first ever community of the State that took first ever bullet at their chest. “Soon, after Muzaffarabad, same such attacks were repeated in Mirpur and other parts of the State of Jammu and Kashmir where the same genocide was carried out. This is our 70th year in exile and during this period of time, we were forced to live in absolute poverty in filthy camps without any help or aid from previous or current Governments, moreover along with relief amount other components of settlement package which was approved by State Cabinet and recommended by Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) which include reservation to the wards of PoK DPs, employment package for unemployed youths in Government jobs and many more have not got the nod of Government for the reasons best known to it and whatever is being provided to PoK DPs as relief amount is quite a smaller amount which is totally insufficient for us as we have been bearing and facing the apathy of our own Governments for last 7 decades”, he stated. “
“What can be more insane that BJP led Government shamefully keeps on playing its dirty political game with no one else but with community who had faced a lot of mental trauma adding, that 31, 619 PoK DPs families have been swollen up to more than 2 lakh folks with more than 12 lakh populace but it is very sad that we are still counted 31, 619 families even after the lapse of 7 decades and out of which 5300 families are placed under exclusion. Government has been working in biased way especially with PoK DPs and on the contrary, Kashmiri Pandits are enjoying every sort of benefits”, he alleged. Mr. Chuni said that Right to Equality is preamble of our Constitution which guarantees equality to all the citizens of the country adding, that current BJP Government is the same party which used to raise the slogan of “Ek Savidhan” has itself ceased it by adopting biased approach among different communities. “PoK DPs have not been given political accommodation and due to lack of this; our voices are not listened at any forum where Kashmiri Pandits are given political recognition as MLCs. We need to recognize the power of our votes and defeat the forces that have brought us to such state of pitiable circumstances. Why is this bigotry between two state subject communities of the same State”? He asked. He further said that like Valley Migrants who are enjoying all sorts of benefits from Government; PoK DPs must be treated at par with Valley Migrants. There must not be any sort of discrimination and such practice ought to be stopped immediately. A uniform policy must be adopted by Government while dealing with displaced persons of the Country irrespective of their caste, colour, region or religion”, he added.
S. O. S. International Chairman further said that those i.e. leaders, Ministers, Chief Ministers who feel pride that Jammu and Kashmir is crown of India might have forgotten the sacrifices made by PoK DPs during Tribal invasion and saved the State. “If Hindus and Sikhs had not shown valor that time then, Jammu and Kashmir wouldn’t have been part of India. I would like to ask such Leaders, Ministers, Chief Ministers that how many from their families have given sacrifices for sake of State and the answer will be nobody. It is, we the PoK DPs who have left their all and now, we are being awarded for our sacrifices in such a brutal manner which can never be called humane in anyway. PoK DPs were left at the verge of starvation to die as for all these years, there was no one to wipe our tears even after painful elimination from native places which is really unfortunate but it happened that time when PoK DPs needed helping hand of administration and Government” he alleged.
“To let our people know about the difference between saying and doing of BJP, S. O. S. International has launched “Jan Jagran” Campaign in which PoK DPs are being educated thoroughly about reasons of not getting justice till today due to divided vote bank”, S. O. S. International Chairman added. “Now, time has come when we need to understand the hidden agenda of such political parties who can go to any level to grind their own axe by keeping the interests of PoK DPs at stake. Our vote bank is very huge but it is divided and such division of our power i.e. our vote proves backbone to hostile forces. If we all PoK DPs get united under one banner then these political parties who used to exploit us at every arena will fall on our feet and our rights will begin coming routinely”, Mr. Chuni stated.

V. K. Datta conducted stage proceedings. Others who also spoke were Prof. JS Mangal, Prof. N. N. Sharma, Ved Raj Bali, Kewal Ram, Capt. Ravinder Kumar, Tilak Raj Sethi, Sharda Devi, Pt. Sita Ram, Parmod Ghai and Vijay Gupta.
