| Swachhta hi seva’ : cleanliness drive at Kupwara | |
Srinagar, September 23, (Scoop News)- Under the ongoing pan India Cleanliness Drive, the Army launched Swachhata Abhiyan as part of Nationwide sanitation Campaign “Swachhata Hi Seva” from Kupwara town to Karalpora along with the District Administration, Kupwara. The drive gave an opportunity for the local populace, civil administration and the men in uniform to join hands together to create awareness about the importance of hygiene and sanitation in the remote areas of Kupwara District.
The event was spearheaded by the school children of various Government as well as Army driven schools of the district. The major contribution came from children of Higher Secondary School, Kupwara; Army Goodwill School, Wayne and Hajipir Army Goodwill School, Trehgam. The children under the guidance of Principals & school teachers took out various rallies which covered important towns of Kupwara, Trehgam and Karalpora.
In towns of Trehgam and Karalpora, more than 550 people participated in the rallies including locals, school children and volunteers of Sumo union and town market committee. The rallies held banners to spread a message to the locals about the importance of hygiene and sanitation and also participated in clearing the waste and disposing off the garbage in the garbage vans following the rally. The enthusiasm and commitment displayed during the drive was a clear indication of the increasing harmony between AWAM and the Army.
