BJP fails to implement GST in state : Congress

Jammu, June 24, (Scoop News)-In a meeting here on Saturday chaired by senior vice-president, Sham Lal Sharma and attended by vice-president Raman Bhalla, general secretaries S. Manjit Singh, Vikram Malhotra, Th.Manmohan Singh and Smt. Namrata Sharma, took a serious note of the misleading statement of deputy chief minister, Nirmal Singh, wherein he accused Congress party of opposing the GST Bill.

The leaders said that what could be a bigger travesty of truth when BJP is the ruling party of the state is not able to implement the “One Nation One Tax” slogan of implementing GST and instead accused Congress party.

They said it was under the able leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the GST was conceptualized and congress ruled states like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka and other States have already implemented the GST and the Congress party in the state is also strongly in favour of implementing the GST at the earliest.

The leaders accused the BJP of playing second fiddle to PDP and it is facing an embrassing situation in the country and particularly in the state that even after calling a special session of the constituent assembly they were not able to even place the legislation in the house and after passing obituary reference the house was adjourned sine-die.

The leaders noted that the government had no intention of passing the GST, because they did not make enough and necessary preparations to pass the GST legislation, as they did not reach out to the opposition parties before calling the special session of the assembly.

If the ruling party was serious about the issue, they would have deliberated with all the opposition parties and arrived at a consensus by educating and informing them about the dire need of the GST implementation in the interest of the state and Nation, they added.

The PCC leaders said that like always the BJP is cheating the people and traders of Jammu with hollow slogans and that the common people have now realized that they are power hungry and want to be in power even if it amounts to sacrificing the interest of the State and the nation.

The Congress leaders further added that the trader and business community of the State is worried and pall of uncertainty and insecurity has descended over the State. The BJP by their silence over the issue has misled and cheated its electorates.

The entire business community and industry is worried about the future of its business and establishment and are annoyed by the fact that J&K being a BJP ruled State is playing at the hands of few individuals with vested interests and ignoring the cause of the people of the State...
