An Awareness campaign on ‘Say No To Tobacco’ held in Public Schools in Jammu by AOL and IDA

Jammu, May 26, (Scoop News)- 31st May every year is observed as "World No Tobacco Day". ART OF LIVING JnK CHAPTER AND Indian Dental Association, Jammu Central Branch in collaboration with Indira Gandhi Govt. Dental College, Jammu is organising "World No Tobacco Week" from 25th May to 31st May 2017 in which various activities for patient awareness, screening, motivation, poster competition walkathon etc will be carried out. The programme will conclude on 31st May' 2017.

Various Public Schools in collaboration with Art of Living Jammu chapter and Indian Dental association, Jammu has joined ‘World No Tobacco Week’ on from 25th May – 31st May 2017 on Day 2 in which various awareness activities for the children were organized in the school campus through lectures, Poster making, meditation sessions and various breathing techniques. The Schools which participated with full zeal and enthusiasm were G D Goenka , Heritage ,Army public school nagrota and K C public School, jammu
Dr. Bhawna Kaul, Associate Professor, Indra Gandhi, Govt. Dental College was the Guest speaker on the occasion at K C Public School She enlightened us on hazards of smoking, consuming tobacco, bettle nut, pan parag and other intoxicant ingredients. She was accompanied by Dr. Neha Gupta and Dr. Suzi Sharma, Deantal Surgeons. Along with her Sh. Yogesh Gaur, International faculty from Art of Living, Sh. Bhanu Sharma, Ms. Tejasvi Gupta, Mr. Ajay Kapoor , State Coordinator –DDC and bureau of Communication Art of living, J&K Chapter were also present. Over hundred of students from Classes 6th to 12th participated in the poster making competition with full Zeal and enthusiasm. Sh Yogesh Gaur had an interactive session teaching various breathing techniques to build up confidence and to energize ourselves and techniques to resist from any addicted agents. In the end, Princpal, Mr. Amarendra Kumar Mishra presented the vote of thanks and applauded the efforts made by the Indian Dental Organisation and Art of Living JnK chapter. The speaker on behalf of AOL in other schools were Manika for goenka and heritage and Tejasvi gupta for APS along with dedicated team of Volunteers who managed the whole event .the speakers on behalf of IDA were dr Rakesh , dr manoj for goenka , Dr ritesh for APS and Dr isha ,idhi and priyanka for heritage, Earlier Dr. Romesh Singh, Principal, Indira Gandhi Govt. Dental College, Jammu inaugurated the patient screening and awareness programme at IGGDC Jammu New Building Complex. A poster competition of students was also held in which 50 students took part today. The upcoming programmes for next 5 days are as follows:
On Saturday 27th May, Poster competition and awareness lecture at various Govt. School will be held in Jammu city, bakshi nagar, nawabad , and Gandhi nagar boys higher secondary Schools. Screening and awareness in slum areas and factories will be done through camps at various slums and industrial areas.
On Sunday 28th May Awareness march from Apsara ground to bahu plaza , Gandhi nagar jammu will be held in which Art of living and IDA will be joined by Red Cross, CRPF , students of various PVT and GOVT Schools, Civil society , Doctor fraternity and various Business and Social organisations in morning 6.30 AM and pledge not to smoke activity at Wave Mall at 4.30 in the evening. On Monday 29th May there will be Awareness lecture at Indira Gandhi Govt. Dental College Jammu followed by Tuesday 30th May thru Activities at various District Hospitals finally Wednesday 31st May will be Concluding ceremony which includes awards, cultural and scientific events at teachers auditorium, Gandhi nagar jammu at 12 noon.
