World Water Day celebrated in Srinagar
Srinagar, March 22, (Scoop News)-To highlight the importance of universal access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene facilities and to draw attention towards sustainable management of freshwater resources, a function was held here to celebrate ‘World Water Day’ in which Deputy Commissioner Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone was the chief guest.
Organized by Department of Ecology, Environment & Remote Sensing, the programme was held at Green Valley Educational Institute, Buchpora on the topic ‘Wastewater Management’.
Chairman and Principal of the institute, Environmentalists, officials of the Department, and a large number of students from various educational institutes were present on the occasion.
During the function, students were made aware about the importance of water in human life and about wastewater management, besides various environment issues by the experts.
Speakers on the occasion laid stress on immediate collective measures for the protection and conservation of water and environment as on them survival of humans depends.
Later, a plantation drive was held in the school campus. It was said that 6000 saplings of various types of trees will he planted during the March month by the Department.
