Samphel demands alternate telecommunication arrangement with Ladakh region | |
New Delhi, February 19, (Scoop News Bureau)-District Congress Committee (DCC)- Leh, president, Tsering Samphel, Sunday implored the Union Telecommunication Minister to urgently restore the BSNL owned Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) link with remote region of Ladakh.
“With the snapping of OFC near Zojila due to avalanche, the people have been virtually pushed to a digital gloom and frozen communication,” he said, adding “despite belonging to a strategically vital region, we are a forlorn people and are being compelled to fend for ourselves.”
Samphel said the ‘internet services in the region’ has remained snapped for past over one month, causing immense inconvenience to students, banks, hotels and business sector. It has also severely affected other public related issues for completion and dispensation, he averred.
Seeking direct intervention of the Union Ministry of Communication, DCC president demanded an alternate arrangement till the Srinagar- Leh highway opens in month of May.... |
