Rana reviews Bharti Foundation’s Quality Programme in 15 Nagrota schools

Jammu, February 19, (Scoop News)- MLA Nagrota and Provincial President National Conference Mr Devender Singh Rana on Sunday called for evolving a mechanism of monitoring and evaluation of newer initiatives in education, especially at its implementation stage.
Taking an exhaustive review of the Quality Support Programme, introduced by the renowned Bharti Foundation in 15 schools of Nagrota Assembly Constituency at the behest of Mr Devender Singh Rana, the MLA Nagrota lauded the devotion and dedication with which the programme is being implemented. He, however, urged the sponsors to put in place monitoring system to assess the progress and adopt evaluation for understanding changes, if any, are required in the implementation as per local requirements.
“So far, the implementation of the QSP has been highly encouraging and instils a confidence in us to have more outreach in another phase for larger benefit of the student community”, Mr Rana said and appreciated the power point presentation, given by the Project Head of the Bharti Foundation Mr Anil Bhat. The presentation encompassed the work done in the 15 schools of the constituency during the past about one year.
During the review, lasting three hours, the MLA Nagrota was briefed that since the inception of programme in the constituency, apart from imparting quality education, various extra-curricular activities were carried out with a view to have best of the students. These included drawing competitions, debates, cleanliness drives, seminar on importance of girl child, setting goals in life, time management, computer training to students, essay writing, sanitation drives, presentation skills, poster making, career counseling, art and craft activities, parent-teacher meetings, school management committee meetings, facility improvement, distribution of sports kits, charts, globes, PEC kits, mock tests conducted for class 10, sports spark (a mega sports event) etc.
Mr Rana was also informed that a comprehensive computer training programme was also organized by the Foundation.
The MLA Nagrota expressed satisfaction over the academic odyssey of the Foundation and suggested for holding inter-school girls Kho-Kho competition for their overall growth. He also called for holding boys and girls cricket tournament separately, saying the constituency does not lack the talent. “Only need is to identify and sharpen it by good coaching”, he added.
Mr Rana also assured the sponsors that 15 laptops would be provided to the schools currently under the implementation of QSP. He hailed the initiative and hoped that more schools across the constituency would be covered under the programme.
The Quality Support Program supports Government Schools to improve the overall quality of schooling experience. As part of the partnership, Bharti Foundation will work with the school leadership and the Directorate of School Education, Jammu to jointly implement interventions that contribute towards enriching the overall schooling experience. Additionally, the Foundation will share best practices and facilitate capacity building for the teachers and school staff. This program stands to cover more than 3500 students and include 175 teachers across the 15 schools falling in 14 Halqa Panchayats of the 3 aforementioned blocks of Nagrota.

Later, Mr Rana visited Bajalta, Kishenpur and Upper Kathhar Panchayat and reviewed the pace of progress on various developmental works and also interacted with the locals.
