CBMs key to peace in Kashmir:Vakil
‘Youth willing to get job in army, paramilitaries but get pellets’

Jammu, February 18, (Scoop News)- Former Minister Ab Ghani Vakil in his response to the warning of Army Chief to protestors has said that dubbing Kashmir youth anti nationals won’t take army, paramilitaries and police closer to youth angered over the denial of job opportunities both by the state and the central governments.
Saying that increasing tendencies of protests show alienation of youth but neither the central nor the state government wakes up from deep slumber to address the increasing unemployment through fast track recruitment process, the former minister said “youth willing to accept jobs even in army and paramilitaries particularly CRPF and BSF are fired with pellets and consequently frustration rising among youth due to unemployment find their way to protests against the government forces”.
Calling upon the army, CRPF and BSF to try to reach out to Kashmiri youth through fast track recruitment processes instead of dubbing them anti nationals and warning them Vakil said army, CRPF and BSF should play a constructive role in the release of thousands of youth detained under PSA. He said violent protests are triggered by the use of lethal weapons in crowd control policing and now it is for the central government to invoke some confidence building measures (CBMs) to instill confidence among youth in Kashmir.
