| Ladakh students delegation calls on chairman SWC | | Ms Mehjoor, demand stern action against accused doctor |
Jammu/ Leh(Ladakh), February 10, (Scoop News)-A delegation of student representatives comprising executive members of All Ladakh Students Association- Jammu (ALSAJ) and All Ladakh Students Welfare Association- Jammu (ALSWAJ) led by Jamyang Tsering Namgyal Councilor Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC)-Leh called on the chairman State Commission for Women (SWC), Nayeema Mehjoor on Thursday in Jammu seeking her attention towards the case of alleged molestation of a Ladakhi girl against a senior doctor at Government Medical College-Jammu.
The delegation appealed the Commission to intervene and ensure impartial investigation against the accused and punished in accordance with law of the land.
They also referred to some groups in Jammu trying to protect the culprit and hush up the case and warned that they would never allow it to happen.
Both ALSAJ and ALSWAJ members submitted a joint memorandum to Ms Mehjoor and sought a thorough probe into the case besides a fair trial within a stipulated period of time.
They demanded a swift and stern action against the accused as lot of time has already been consumed in the process till date.
“The accused doctor should be terminated forthwith without wasting any further time and also his attachment should be revoked immediately,” the memorandum mentioned.
Assuring the delegates, Ms Mehjoor said that law will take its course and nobody will be allowed to influence the investigation and the trial of the case.
During the course, she spoke to the Principal GMC-Jammu and enquired about the progress of the case.
Principal, during the conversation, informed the chairperson that women visiting the college campus have been impersonating as the members of the SWC.
Ms Mehjoor assured the delegates that the matter will be investigated and stern action will be taken against impostors. ... |
