Shaheen seeks immediate restoration of snow-damaged infrastructure

Banihal, January 17, (Scoop News)- National Conference District President Ramban Mr Sajjad Shaheen on Tuesday expressed grave concern over infrastructural damages caused due to heavy-snowfall across the Banihal constituency and in various other parts of the Ramban District, saying while people were suffering the PDP-BJP government has preferred to remain in deep slumber.

“As a consequence of heavy snow, the power and drinking water supply has been badly hit while road connectivity with most of the parts remains disrupted”, Mr Shaheen said while expressing anguish over the unpreparedness of the administration in meeting the winter challenges.

Mr Shaheen said the government failure is unpardonable as the peoples’ problems have increased manifold during the past few weeks, especially in the wake of disruption in the mobility. The prices of essentials have gone up due to frequent closure of the national highway and supply of rations at the CAPD outlets has suffered adversely.

The District President said the irony of situation is that nobody from the coalition government finds it necessary to visit the area and make the administration responsive. “This is incomprehensible to see the administration inactive”, he said, adding that the insensitive administration seems to be taking sadistic pleasure in the sufferings of the people.

“If the government has an iota of responsibility, it should, at least, take steps to restore the power and drinking water infrastructure besides ensuring road connectivity especially in Thachi-Amkoot, Hinjhal, Khari, Trigam, Mahur-Mangat, Neel, Pogal, Alinbas and Sumar so that the people have some sort of respite”, he said and urged the administration to take pity on the peoples’ woes and solve their problems. He also sought immediate survey of the damages caused to orchards so that the farmers can be compensated.
