CEC LAHDC Kargil review meeting on Power Crisis

Kargil, January 13, (Scoop News)-Chairman and chief Executive Councilor (CEC) Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil, Kacho Ahmed Ali Khan today called a meeting to review the ongoing curtailment in Electricity in Kargil. During the meeting Executive Councilor Advocate Amir, Executive Councilor Mohammad Hussain, Advisor to CEC Haji Mohammad Shafi, Councilor Shakar Zakir Hussain, Councilor Poyen Liyaqat Ali, Councilor Barso Mohammad Ismail and the concern officers of electricity department and NHPC were also present in the meeting.
During the meeting CEC LAHDC Kacho Ahmed Ali khan expressed his regret over the ongoing electricity crisis in Kargil and appealed the concern authorities to minimize the ongoing electricity curtailment in Kargil town. He also urged the officers to find out the way out so that people would not suffer during winter especially in nights.
However talking to media NHPC and PDD officers said that due to chilling cold the water is getting freeze that’s why people are facing Curtailment.
“We don’t have any feeder connected with outside that’s why we could not unable to import electricity; however we are trying our best to facilitate people’’. Said Javed Executive engineer PDD.
He further said that people have supported to reduce power load but in last two days temperature got down and water level also goes low .That’s why the generation of power is not enough. However he said we are trying our best to seek out some solution to minimize power crisis in Kargil town.
However NHPC authorities has said that within one month the problem of electricity crisis would be reduce and people will get electricity with rare problem .
Its’ pertinent to mention here that people of Kargil face crisis of electricity in every year due to harsh cold but NHPC officials are saying that once the Kargil grid would be connected to north grid station then the electricity crisis would also end in Ladakh region . ...
