Ladakh adjudged best adventure tourism destination, award given after thorough evaluation of different factors with absolute neutrality
Kashmir tourism wooing tourists from Kolkata
Leh (Ladakh), December 3, (Scoop News)-Jammu and Kashmir Tourism was judged as one of the best adventure tourism destination for Ladakh at a glittering ceremony held in the Union Capital on Friday.

The award was sponsored by internationally travel reader’s publication, ‘elude nest’ and presented by the Union Tourism secretary, Vinod Zutshi and the event was held in presence of who is who of the travel trade across country and the ambassadors of United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany while France, US, Belgium and other European countries were represented by their first secretaries.

The said award is an internationally recoganised one and is given after a thorough evaluation of different factors and criteria with absolute neutrality.

While receiving the award, JK Tourism secretary, Farooq A Shah, in his presentation showcased the huge potential of the state for adventure tourism and assured to equip the state with international standard infrastructure to make Jammu and Kashmir as one of the best tourism destination in the world.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir tourism department is making strenuous efforts to remove the fear from the minds of tourists and tour operators about Kashmir as the recent street turbulence has hit the sector badly.

“There is a negative perception and we need to remove that,” Mehmood Ahmed Shah, director tourism Kashmir, said in an informal interaction session with media persons and tour operators in Kolkata while trying to remove doubts from the mind of tourists.

“Even during the street turbulence in Kashmir, no tourist faced any kind of problem, we are here to remove the unease from the minds of the tourists and tour operators,” he averred.

Shah said the Valley had huge influx of tourists till first half but the industry was badly hit due to unrest in the second half of the year. “We are here to assure the tourists and the tour operators from Bengal that holiday makers are safe in the state,” Shah added.
