| CEO holds meet with political parties | | Srinagar, October 26, (Scoop News)-Chief Electoral Officer J&K, Shantmanu, Wednesday convened a meeting with representatives of various political parties in connection with the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls.
As per the schedule for special summary revision of photo electoral roll in Jammu and Kashmir announced by the Election Commission of India, the draft publication of the photo electoral rolls shall be made on October 31, 2016 in all polling stations, while the final publication is scheduled to be held on January 14, 2017.
The guidelines of the Commission state that one set of photo electoral roll shall be provided free of cost to all the recognized political parties at National and State level.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEO asked the participants to identify and appoint a Booth Level Agent (BLA) for each polling booth who would be associated with the special campaign dates along with BLOs. He sought cooperation of all the political parties to make the campaign a success. He said that the Election Department is working to register all the eligible voters who have attained the age of 18 years or above as on January 1, 2016.
He also informed the participants regarding the availability of Form 6, 7, 8 and 8A free of cost which will be available with all BLOs/AEROs/EROs/DEOs. These forms can also be downloaded from the official website of CEO (www.ceojk.nic.in) and Election Commission of India website (www.eci.nic.in).
Mr. Shantmanu assured the participants that their suggestions for achieving 100% registration and corrections, if any, in electoral rolls would be will taken. The participants were also made aware about various provisions of Jammu and Kashmir Representation of Peoples Act, 1957 regarding registration process.
