Discount to be given on bill amount for broadband users for September & October: TDM, BSNL


Leh, October 22, (Scoop News)-Keeping in view the frequent interruption of BSNL phone and internet services in Leh TDM, BSNL, Leh Phuntsog Dorjey today called for a press conference in his office. Briefing the media Mr. Dorjey said that even earlier there used to be OFC breakdowns due to continuous developmental activities and natural calamities but not so frequent and for prolonged period. He said that this time 90% of OFC lines has been cut in Srinagar which he said is beyond his jurisdiction. “Till date OFC in different places in Srinagar has been cut deliberately 7 to 8 times and because of the tense situation in the valley BSNL team could undertake the restoration works only during odd hours which has very short window with limited time and sometimes it takes 3 to 4 days to restore the lines,” explained TDM as the reason for recent poor network connection in Leh. He said that the matter has been put up to CGM Jammu for needful actions.
TDM further informed that during the recent visit of H. K. Verma, CGM Jammu to Leh gave full assurance to strengthen and improve the existing network in Leh and said that army has ensured to provide strategic alliance support because army too holds the responsibility to maintain network connectivity in the region as per an MoU signed between army and BSNL. Responding to the resentment among locals over the billing of WIMAX and broadband internet services, Mr. Dorjey said that under the guidelines of TRAI possible rebate will be given on bill amount to broadband and WIMAX users for the month of September and October. He added that costumers with any other issue can contact their office and ensured to address all the issues.
