APHC calls upon New Delhi and Islamabad to de-escalate tensions
says military aggression and war is no solution to problem

Srinagar, September 29, (Scoop News)-Expressing shock and concern over Wednesday’s unprovoked firing by India on Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC), All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) said military aggression and war is no solution to any problem , it instead worsens problems further which the three previous wars between both the two counties has shown.

The conglomerate also criticized the role of Indian electronic and print media for creating war hysteria and arousing passions among the people of the two countries, aggravating confrontation between the two countries.

Calling upon New Delhi and Islamabad to de-escalate tensions, APHC said the two nuclear neighbours should behave maturely and instead of confrontations which can only be disastrous for the entire region engage in serious dialogue to resolve issues and bring peace.

The amalgam strongly condemned the government for the continued detention and solitary confinement of its leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq for the past more than one month at a sub jail since 26 th August and his house arrest of two months before that at his Nigeen residence from July 8, 2016 .

The spokesman said arbitrary curbs and detention of the Mirwaiz has prevented him from discharging his religious obligations and social work as the Mirwaiz .For the past many years at the whim of the authorities, he is repeatedly prevented from offering Friday prayers and delivering Friday sermons .

He is not allowed to address religious (tableege) congregations across the state to which he is invited. He has not been allowed to attend Eid prayers and ijtimas for the past six years. His political outreach to people of the state is also curbed as ahead of any rally or gathering he is detained at home .His passport is impounded for many years now to prevent him from attending religious and political conferences and highlighting the Kashmir issue globally.

The spokesman said these oppressive measures taken to harass him and prevent him from pursuing his principled stand of seeking justice and freedom for his nation are deplorable and belie claims to any democratic credentials of the establishment.
