| NCC J&K bids farewell to Maj Gen SS Jakhar | |  Jammu,September 29, (Scoop News)- State NCC Directorate bid farewell to Maj Gen SS Jakhar ADG NCC J &K at an impressive farewell function held at NCC Academy Nagrota. Maj Gen Jakhar will retire from service on his superannuation on 30th September.
Major General Sudhir Singh Jakhar is a second generation Army Officer. He is an alumnai of National Defence Academy commissioned into RAJPUTREGIMENT in Dec 1979. He is a graduate of the Defence Service Staff College Wellington, Post Graduate Diploma in Personal Management & Industrial Relationship from DIMS, New Delhi and is also qualified as Interviewing Officer for Services Selection Board. He has held numerous important Command, Staff and Instructional assignments at National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and Military Operation Branch at Army HQ. He commanded a company in Operation Pawan, Srilanka, Operation Rakshak in J&K on four occasions, his Battalion in Operation Rakshak and Operation Vijay, a Brigade in Rajasthan and Deputy GOC of 28 Infantry Division. The General Officer has been awarded the COAS Commendation twice in 2008 and 2014 and the GOC-in-C Commendation Card on three occasions. The General Officer is a keen sportsman and is interested in Hockey, Tennis and Golf.
During his tenure as ADG NCC in the state, he has very actively propagated and encouraged NCC activities all over the state. His relentless devotion to duty, unstinted and untiring efforts has given a fillip the NCC in the State. By his constant monitoring, guidance and encouragement at all levels, he has been instrumental in the cadets of the state winning several competitions at the National Level, thus bringing out the tremendous talent of the youth of the state. He also pursued the issue of increasing the spread of NCC in the State by progressing the cases of raising of NCC Units at Kupwara, Udhampur and NCC Air Squadron at Srinagar.
An impressive Guard of Honour was presented to the ADG at NCC Academy by NCC cadets at NCC Academy Nagrota.
Maj Gen SS Jakhar will hand over the reins of NCC to Maj Gen N Kumar on 30 September who till recently was GOC of a Sub Area in the Eastern Sector.
