Hanjura for employing innovative methods to increase agriculture production
Seeks DPRs for Model Basmati, Potato, Mushkbudgi, Rajmash Villages, Apiculture
Srinagar,September 29, (Scoop News)-Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, Thursday stressed for adopting innovative methods for increase in agriculture production in the State.
He said this while chairing a high level meeting with the Officers of Agriculture, Command Area Development (CAD, JK Agro Industries, Planning & Development, Revenue, PDD and Mechanical Departments, which was convened to review progress of centrally sponsored and State sector schemes.
During the meeting, Hanjura directed the officers of Agriculture Department to prepare Model Detailed Project Reports for Basmati, Potato Seed, Mushkbudgi, Rajmash and Apiculture villages and submit the same to the concerned quarter within fortnight so that the funds could be arrange for the purpose for their setup in the State.
He directed them to work in unison and ensure that benefits of these schemes reach to farmers well in time.
The Meeting was attended by the Financial Commissioner Planning and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, B B Vyas, Principal Secretary Agriculture, Sundeep Kumar Nayak, Commissioner Secretary R&B, Rohit Kansal, Secretary Revenue, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Head of Departments of concerned Departments.
On the occasion, detailed discussions were also held on Saffron Mission Project. The meeting was informed that out of Rs 400 crore an amount of Rs. 194 crore have been incurred on the project, so far. It was also given out that 103 bore wells have been harnessed and 8 sprinkle systems have been laid for 8 bore wells. It was said that rejuvenation work on 3 bore well has been completed in Samboora Saffron Village. Productivity of Saffron is likely to witness 120 percent increase due to density of corms, the meeting was told.
While discussing the statues of Saffron Park at Village Dassu Pampore, it was informed that work on the park has been completed. It was further informed that administrative and processing units are in final stage of completion.
Director Agriculture Jammu also attended the meet through video conference and informed the meeting about Suchetgarh Basmati Rice Cluster (SBRC) project. He said that 519 farmers have benefited to form Organic Farming Cluster while as 33 demonstrations were also held to spread awareness among the farmers.
