| Specialist doctors from Delhi render free medical camp at Leh | | 
Leh, September 26, (Scoop News)-As per past practice, a team of 23 specialist doctors from AIIMS and other reputed medical institutes commenced their week long medical camp in SNM Hospial, Leh today. In the morning they were formally welcomed by CEC, LAHDC, Leh Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo in the MS office, SNM hospital. He expressed gratitude to all the doctors for their valuable services provided to the poor and needy people of Ladakh. Dr. Dawa credited Ven. Lama Lobzang for his persistent effort of bring this team of doctors to Ladakh. “He started with 3 doctors in 1990s and it has grown over time with more than 20 doctors attending this camp. It speaks of the intention of Lamaji and is like his dream come true,” said CEC.
Ven Lama Lobzang said that Leh district hospital is the only district hospital in the country to have facilities like Echo, CT Scan, services, infrastructure, maintenance, cleanliness and dedicated team of local doctors and medical staff. “I feel proud of Leh having received the state award for No. 1 district hospital in J&K in terms of hygiene, cleanliness and service quality this year,” He also expressed thanks to the doctors from Delhi for their contribution in providing required medical treatment to the people of Ladakh and said that local doctors too get the opportunity to learn from them during this camp. He also appreciated the contribution of Medical Social Service Association, Leh for assisting the poor people to get these special treatments.
Lama Lobzang requested the visiting doctors to carry research to study the cause of alarming increase in cancer cases in Leh and Hepatitis-B in Kargil districts and the ways to control them.
Medical Suptd. Phuntsog Angchuk said that such camps not only benefit the common people especially from poor section but also create a good atmosphere between the specialists from Delhi and local doctors building healthy relationship and a learning platform.
