| Turkish Cleric recommends American Muslims to vote for Democratic candidate | |
Philadelphia ,September 24, (Scoop News Network)-A US-based Muslim cleric called on all American Muslims to participate in the upcoming presidential election and join hands in voting for the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton who he described as “a more rational” person compared to his anti-Muslim rival Donald Trump.
“The Republicans have always been more hostile towards Muslims and Islamic countries but the Democrats have a more positive attitude towards Muslims,” Said the Turkish religious philosopher Fethullah Gulen. “But the most recent American president Barack Obama is a clear example of the rationality of the Democrats with regards to Muslim people. Mrs. Clinton can continue Obama’s path in favor of all American and world Muslims.”
He expressed hope that Turkey’s “slide toward Erdoganian dictatorship” be halted so that the Turkish people could “enjoy the sweet taste of democracy” just like the American people.
The comments which were made during a pre-recorded video sent to the World Affairs Council in Philadelphia appear to be a delayed reaction to voice concern over the hateful remarks of Donald Trump about Muslims and immigrants entering the United States which ignited major controversy. It seems that the comments of the Turkish self-imposed exile living in the United States are aimed at securing his foothold among the Democrats
