Induction Programme 2016 for freshers organized at JU

Jammu, August 29 (Scoop News)- Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu organized an Induction Programme- 2016 for newly admitted students of the University of Jammu today at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium.
Justice Permod Kohli, Chairman Central Administrative Tribunal was the Chief Guest at the occasion whereas Simrandeep Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu was the Guest of Honour. Both the dignitaries are the luminous alumni of the University of Jammu. Prof. R.D. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu presided over the function. The programme was attended by a huge gathering of newly admitted students, distinguished achievers, faculty Members, Officers of various University organizations.
The programme started with Ganpati Vandana and a folk dance by the students of the University.
In his speech, Justice Permod Kohli while recalling his University days asserted that he is a proud alumnus of the University of Jammu . He advised the students to work hard in order to achieve success in life as there is no substitute of hard work and determination. "It is the students who have to decided how to make living or how to live and the option has to be wisely chosen by them", he added.
Prof. R.D. Sharma while congratulating the students to be selected in the prestigious University of Jammu, he stressed on inculcating the Qualities of 3C's I.e Character, Competence and committment which he said are very important in an individual to achieve success in any field. He also dwelt on the future plans of the development of the University.
Prof. Sharma stressed on importing imagination and introspection, strategy and effective communication along with active education through setting goals, focusing on them.
Vice Chancellor further said that there is no value for academic excellence without behavioural excellence and both are crucial to achieve excellence.
In his address, Mr. Simrandeep Singh urged students to be disciplined and punctual and also to strive for being original, unique and hard working as the way towards success gets easy when you tread on the vehicle of integrity.

The purpose of organizing the programme was to apprise the newly admitted students about the University functioning, rules, regulations, guidelines and the facilities provided to them so that they get aware of the ambience and also to avail maximum benefit of the time they spent in University.
Earlier, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Satnam Kour formally welcomed the gathering and also dwelt on the various aspects and salient features, central facilities and support system of the University of Jammu through a PowerPoint presentation.
Prof. Poonam Dhawan, Dean Academic Affairs and Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Chairman Campus Culture Committee also apprised the students about different areas of functioning of the University and also warmly welcomed the newly admitted students to the University.

An encouraging aspect of this programme was the Felicitation of the Students of University of Jammu who have achieved rare distinction in their respective careers during the year 2015-16. This act of acknowledgement provided a sense of belonging among the ex-students with the University, who felt nostalgic and proud about spending their time in the campus as students.

Prof Keshav Sharma, Registrar, University of Jammu presented the formal vote of thanks very zestfully. The programme was conducted by Ifra Kak (Cultural Officer) and was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor) under the guidance of Dr. Anupama Vohra (Associate Dean Students Welfare), Dr. A.R. Manhas (Assistant Dean Students Welfare and Dr. Parmil Kumar (Assistant Dean Students Welfare).
