| Ganga inaugurates Inter-District Cricket Tournament | | Samba, August 28 (Scoop News)- Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash, today declared open Inter-District Division level U-14 Years Boys cricket tournament at Sports stadium Samba.
The tournament is being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Samba from 28th to 30ty August.
On the occasion, the Minister stressed upon proper grooming of players so that they can play at National and International level. He said that sports help in bringing discipline, courage; concentration and motivation among the youth enabling them channelize their energies in a right direction. He expressed hope that the youth of the area would work hard to bring laurels to the state in their respective sports disciplines.
The Minister interacted with the players from various districts of Jammu Division and exhorted upon them for strict adherence to sports rules.
The Minister informed that a proposal would be mooted for construction of sports hostel in the district adding that efforts are being made to improve other basic facilities in the Stadium. He said that the government is playing an active role in developing and supporting the sports profile of the state with focus on enthusing physical fitness and mental well being among the sportspersons. He said that effective programmes and policies based on long term sustainability are being chalked out to harness state’s sports potential to the optimum. Besides, infrastructural upgradation of sports edifice in the state is also being focused upon.
In First match played here today, the Jammu team thrashed Udhampur team.
District Youth and Sports Officer, Subash Bhardwaj , Additional SP, Raja Adil Hamid, officials and locals were present on the occasion.
