Veeri reviews Jummat-ul-Vida, Shab-e-Qadr, Eid-ul-Fitr arrangements

Srinagar, June 30 (Scoop News)-Minister of Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri, Thursday, visited various religious places, including Eidgah, Dargah Hazratbal and Hazrat Syed Yaqoob Sahib, and took stock of arrangements there, for the ensuing Jummat-ul-vida, Shab-e-Qadar and Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
The Minister was accompanied by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Asghar Samoon, Deputy Commissioner Farooq Ahmad Lone, heads of various departments, including Chief Engineer R&B S Razdan, General Manager JKPCC Vikar Ahmad Shonto, Chief Engineer PDD, Chief Engineer PHE, SSP Srinagar Amit Kumar, SE SMC and Secretary Wakf Board.
The Minister visited Eidgah, where he met the local delegations and took stock of the arrangements there. He was apprised about the preparations and directed the officials to ensure that all the requirements and facilities for offering the Eid prayer are tended before Eid. He directed replacement of old public address systems with the new ones and maintaining cleanliness there.
The Minster also visted to the Dargah Hazratbal shrine and had a meeting with the intizamia there, which apprised him about the preparations for Jumat-ul-vida and gave final touches to the arrangements.
He directed the Chief Engineer PHE to provide adequate clean drinking water tankers and the PDD officials to ensure that electricity remains available round the clock and the defunct lights are replaced.
He enquired about the condition of roads and was assured that the roads leading to these places have already been repaired. He later prayed for peace and prosperity of the state at the Dargah.
He directed the Food and Supplies Department to provide ration, sugar and wheat before Eid. He also asked for setting up water and juice stalls and medical emergency units for the devotees on the auspicious occasions of Jummat-ul-vid, Sab-e-Qadr and Eid-ul-fitr. Srinagar Municipal Corporation was asked to set up mobile lavatories as well.
The Minister also visited the shrine of Hazrat Syed Yaqoob Sahib Sonwar and, after hearing the intizamia, directed the concerned officials to ensure that the requirements are met immediately. He directed the PDD Chief Engineer to immediately fix the defunct lights. He asked the Police to formulate a detailed road map for the management of traffic on these days and provide parking facilities for the devotees.
