Leaders like Mufti Sahib aren’t born overnight: Veeri

Srinagar, May 26 (Scoop News)-Paying rich tributes to former Chief Minister, Late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed during the obituary reference in the House, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and R&B, Mr Abdul Rehman Veeri said that “leaders like Mufti Sahib aren’t born overnight.”
“Mufti sahib was an institution and he was never bothered about chair and power. He always believed in integrity, honesty and upright politics,” Veeri said.
“If the leader is dynamic he can change the fate of the nation and such was Mufti sahib’s vision towards the State that whatever decision he would take would prove his greatness,” he said.
Recalling his association with the late chief minister, Veeri said that he has grown under Mufti’s patronage. “I have all along remained under the patronage of this great leader, who is being remembered by all the parties today,” he said. “From being a small-time political worker to this level, I have been an honest student of his politics,” he said. He said it was very tough time for him and his party to fulfill the void that the late chief minister has left.
The Minister said that throughout his life Mufti worked for the welfare and development, besides peace and prosperity of the State. He said when the former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpaiyee visited Kahsmir valley in 2002, Mufti Sahib only demand to the PM was “Give my people a respectable and peaceful life.” He said that it was the result of the honest efforts of late Mufti Sahib that peace process started between two neighboring nations India and Pakistan, due to which many historical and landmark decision were taken including opening of Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road, opening of Poonch-Rawlakoot road etc.
Pointing towards opposition, Veeri said, “You can have differences with Mufti Sahib but he can’t be ignored in the political history of the State,” he said.
“Mufti Sahib would be remembered for all times to come for his pro-people approach,” he said.
Veeri also paid rich tributes to the Ex Speakers, Lok Sabha, Balram Jakhar, PA Sangma, Ex Ministers, Ch Lal Muhammad Sabir, Late Muhammad Khalil Jawahar, Dr Ramesh Chander Sharma besides legislators, Sehdev Singh and Muhammad Maqbool Muhjoo.
Meanwhile, Legislators including Muhammad Shafi Uri, GM Saroori, MY Tarigami, Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen, Satpal Sharma, Bashir Ahmad Dar, Engineer Abdul Rasheed, Usman Majeed, Asgar Ali Karbalaye also paid rich tributes to the former Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, Ex Speakers, Lok Sabha, Balram Jakhar, PA Sangma, Ex Ministers, Ch Lal Mohammad Sabir, Mohammad Khalil Jawahar, Dr Rameesh Chander Sharma besides legislators, Sehdev Singh and Mohammad Maqbool Mohjoo.
They while paying tributes to the deceased leaders also highlighted late Mufti Sahib contribution towards the peace prospective and development of the State.
Later on the conclusion of the proceedings, two minute silence was observed in the house in memory of these legislators.
