CEC LAHDC calls on Dy CM
Dr Singh says steps underway to accelerate development of Leh
Srinagar, May 18 (Scoop News)- The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said various measures are underway to expedite development of Ladakh, its adjoining areas and several projects have been undertaken in this regard.
The Deputy Chief Minister was interacting with a deputation of Executive Councilors of LAHDC (Leh) led by Chief Executive Councilor, Dr Sonam Dava. Commissioner Secretary PDD, Mr Dheeraj Gupta, Councilors Tsering Wangdus, Dorjey Mutup and Tsering Sangdup were present on the occasion.
Dr Singh said several flagship initiatives have been undertaken in housing and urban development sector to boost the development of the historic Leh region which would ensure that the people get the requisite amenities and the region comes up as a model area. He said necessary instructions have already been passed to the concerned executing agencies to ensure time bound completion of the ongoing projects.
The Deputy Chief Minister further directed the Commissioner Secretary PDD to speed up the execution of various Power Development Corporation projects and also ensure that the already existing ones are functioning in a smooth manner. He said by time bound completion of these projects we would be providing the consumers adequate supply of power supply besides creating new job opportunities.
Dr Singh also asked for speedy completion of the RAPDRP project maintaining that it would go a long way in augmenting the electric infrastructure in the Leh town besides strengthening the electric transmission system. He also called for replacement of the old wooden electric polls with the new ones.
The Deputy Chief Minister further maintained that the government is committed for the overall and holistic development of the state with special thrust on hilly and far flung areas. He said that ever since the PDP-BJP coalition took over special focus has been on time-bound completion of the ongoing projects in various sectors and also undertaking new ones and formulating detailed project reports for the other initiatives to be undertaken in the near future.
