Research backbone of universities: CUK V-C
Distributes certificates among participants of training prog on BRM

Srinagar, May 04 (Scoop News)-Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir today described research as the backbone of any varsity.
“If the university failed to undertake quality research then it would have no relevance in the society,” Prof. Mehraj ud Din said during the valedictory function cum certificate distribution of 10-day training programme on Business Research Methods (BRM) organised by the School of Business Studies from April 25 at Nowgam-I academic block of the University.
Dean School of Business Studies, Prof. Abdul Gani, Dean School of Media Studies, Prof. S Fayaz, Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, workshop Coordinator, Dr. Farooq Ahmad, DSW, Director, Dr. Fayaz A Nikka, other faculty members and scholars were also present on the occasion.
Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir said the reason that none of the Indian universities figure in top varsities of the world is that they have failed to excel and make a mark in the research activities. He asked the scholars to prepare a University Collegium wherein they can publish their papers and highlighted the importance of knowledge sharing. Prof. Mehraj ud Din assured the scholars of all possible help and support during their research work. Later, he distributed certificates among the participants.
Speaking on the occasion, Dean School of Business Studies, Prof. Abdul Gani, termed the programme as a huge success and attributed its success to the programme coordinator, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Shah. He said that several experts delivered lectures to the scholars and apprised them about various aspects of research. Prof. Gani said the department was making arduous efforts to produce quality researchers and holding of this programme was one of the essential components in that direction. He said the department has a largest pool of researchers who not only are gaining the knowledge but are also disseminating it.
Dean School of Media Studies and Head Department of Tourism Studies, Prof. S Fayaz congratulated the DMS for holding the programme and suggested that such programmes should be organised at regular intervals in order to update the research scholars. He said that research has become multidisciplinary and holding of training programmes was need of the hour. He complimented the scholars for their work.
Registrar, Prof. Muhammad Afzal Zargar, said that the programme would have been an eye opener to the scholars who would have been enlightened by the experts about the techniques of formulation of hypothesis and how to pen down the research papers. He said that by establishing Directorate of Research and Development, the university has further strengthened the research activities. Prof. Zargar also assured full cooperation from the administration to the researchers.
Workshop Coordinator, Dr. Farooq Ahmad, gave a detailed overview of the activities organised during the training programme and also conducted the programme proceedings.
