Massive rescue operations continue on third day near Post One at Siachen
bodies yet to be extricated, list of martyrs released.



Partapur-Siachen Base),February 5,(Scoop News)- The rescue operation is continuing on war footing with on third consecutive day with additional specialised equipment and teams deployed at the site of avalanche on Wednesday (February 3), a senior defence official told Scoop News by phone.

10 soldiers of 19 Madras Regiment were buried alive when a huge mass of frozen snow detached from a cliff and rolled down towards a prefab shelter of post one being occupied by the troops at an elevation of 19,600 feet ASL.

This is the second avalanche in over a month's time this year that led to death soldiers on the glacier. Earlier, on January 3 four soldiers of 3 Ladakh Scouts came under an avalanche in the southern part of the glacier when they were out on a patrol duty.

The official said the soldiers who were buried in the avalanche were identified as Subedar Nagesha TT resident of vill Tejur, Hassan Dist, Karnataka.,Havildar Elumalai M resident of vill Dukkam Parai, Vellore Dist, Tamil Nadu.,Lance Havildar S Kumar resident of vill Kumanan Thozhu, Teni Dist, Tamil Nadu.,Lance Naik Sudheesh B resident of vill Monroethuruth, Kollam Dist, Kerala,Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Koppad resident of vill Betadur, Dharwad Dist, Karnataka,Sepoy Mahesha PN resident of vill HD Kote, Mysore Dist, Karnataka, Sepoy Ganesan G resident of village Chokkathevan Patti, Madurai Dist, Tamil Nadu,Sepoy Rama Moorthy N resident of vill Gudisatana Palli , Krishna Giri Dist, Tamil Nadu,Sep Mustaq Ahmed S resident of vill Parnapalle, Kurnool Dist, Andhra Pradesh,Sepoy Nursing Assistant Suryawanshi SV resident of village Maskarwadi, Satara Dist, Maharashtra
