| Lal Singh pays surprise visit to PHC Pouni, SDH Akhnoor | | 
Jammu, November 29 (Scoop News)-Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings, Choudhary Lal Singh, today conducted surprise inspection of Primary Health Centre (PHC) Pouni in Reasi and Sub District Hospital (SDH) in Akhnoor here midnight yesterday.
The surprise check was conducted by the Minister in view of the complaints by the people regarding non-availability of medicos and paramedical staff in these hospitals during odd hours.
Officers of Health Department accompanied the Minister during the inspection.
Singh directed the medicos and paramedics to remain present in the hospital as per duty roaster and provide round the clock healthcare facilities to the people. “Ensuring enhanced medicare to people with emphasis on those living in inaccessible parts forms one of the priorities of present dispensation and any laxity in this regard would be dealt with an iron hand”, he asserted.
At PHC Reasi, the Minister expressed dismay over the shabby and unhygienic condition in the hospital and directed the authorities to ensure that the renovation and repair works are started at the earliest. He also asked them to keep the hospital neat and clean as unhygienic surroundings will not only effect patients’ health but can also make the healthy visitors sick.
The Minister also emphasized the medicos and para-medicos to maintain dress code and cleanliness in the hospital. He said that patient care should be their prime concern as they are being considered as next to God and their devotion and hard work can save innumerable precious lives.
The Minister said that the government is working under a comprehensive plan to equip health institutions in all the rural as well as far-off areas with advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities for which otherwise the people have to wander from pillar to post to get the same.
