Tourism Advisory Board a mockery with Jammu region : Hotel Association

Katra, November 27 (Scoop News)-Hotel & Restaurant Association Katra in a meeting held here today under the Chairmanship of its President Rakesh Wazir & Co Chaired by Shyam Lal Kesar strongly condemned the state Government for making the mockery of the recently constituted Tourism Advisory Board wherein all the Tourist places of Jammu region including Katra, Patnitop, Bhaderwah, Mansar, Surinsar, Shiv Khori,Man Talai etc.were not given any representation and whatever small representation was given to Jammu city, intentionally all the elected Associations of Hotels , Restaurants , Travel Agents were categorically denied of so that in the meetings none could raise any point of development of Tourist places of Jammu region and this can be best adjudged from the fact that while the Government is at Jammu now and Advisory Board’s ever first meeting was kept at Pahalgam Kashmir as if Jammu region is not even capable of holding a Tourism Advisory Board meeting.

Mr. Wazir while speaking on the occasion said that it is very surprising that Katra despite contributing about the 80% of the tourists of the whole state and being a base camp for all the tourist places of the state was altogether ignored in the said representation, fully knowing that Kashmir tourism related people even had made their offices overhere due to its importance and to spread the more than 1 crore pilgrims visiting overhere to other tourist places of the state. This depicts the non seriousness of government towards Tourism and that is the reason that tourism is not flourishing overhere in the state.
Mr. Kesar said that in all previous Tourism Advisory Boards the elected Associations of Tourism related bodies including Hotels ,Guest Houses,Lodges,House Boats, Restaurants, Travel Agents used to get representation with the idea of receiving ground feed back with respect to the Tourism on ground and valuable suggestions from these bodies. But in the newly constituted Board out of 23 members body not even a single prominent elected body of Tourism related trade of Jammu Region could get place in the policy making but instead, deliberately ignoring of all those bodies show this mind set which is the real cause of decline of tourism in all the three regions of the state in the present regime and will remain so if the attitude of the government is not changed.
Mr. Wazir & Mr. Kesar further said that if the Government is really interested in revival of the Tourism in the state,it should scrap this Board immediately and leaving aside its few competent persons connected with Tourism should constitute the fresh Board connected with J&K Tourism Industry people and particulary the representatives of the elected Associations.
The meeting among others was attended by Sr.Vice President Virender Kesar ,Gen.Sec. Harish Dubey,Vice presidents Vishal Sharma, Vivek Sharma, Karan Wazir,Sumit Khajuria,Nishant Sharma,Rohit Dubey and Secretaries Prabhat Singh, Kuldeep Sharma etc.
