DM Leh issues circular on digging & constriction procedures
Advises all agencies to follow the circular in letter and spirit

Leh,October 8,(Scoop News)-The District Magistrate, Leh Prasanna Ramasawami G through a circular impressed upon all the Engineering agencies of the Central and State Government functioning in Leh that here shall be no further activities which tend to damage existing infrastructure like road, underground cables, water and sewerage lines etc. without prior permission from the office of the District Magistrate. An advance intimation of any such activity shall be made to district Magistrate’s office giving detail such as place, time and purpose, which shall help in coordinating among various agencies in order to avoid unnecessary damages.


The DM has advised all agencies to follow the circular in letter and spirit as non compliance may attract penal provisions of J&K Ranbir Penel Court and J&K Criminal Procedure Court.


The DM stated that there is an utter lack of coordination among the different agencies, which are involved in construction activities on a regular basis. Some of the activities of such agencies, both of the Central and State Government are of a nature which results in avoidable damage to the existing public infrastructure and public utilities. He said that in most of the cases such damage to public utilities like telephone lines, electric lines, water supply pipes and other critical infrastructure is avoidable if an intimation of such activities made to the agency which owns the utilities.
