CEC, LAHDC meets DG, Youth Sports, discusses sports related issues

Leh,September 3 (Scoop News)-CEC, LAHDC, Leh today met with Jahangir Mir, Director General, Youth Sports & Services, J&K in his office to discuss sports related issues in Leh district. District YS&S Officer, Abdul Rashid was also present in the meeting.
To promote sports both CEC and the DG agreed on having proper infrastructure and decided to explore all the possibilities at both their levels to arrange funds to ensure completion of the multipurpose indoor stadium and provision of other facilities at their best. platform for students to explore their sporting talents. Spalbar said, “Investment in Leh is investment for state,” and reiterated that Ladakh is one of the ideal places to promote sports considering its geographic location and other conditions. He asserted that any infrastructural sporting facility set up in Leh would be useful not only for local but for national and international players.
Mr. Mir briefed about the schemes and policies made by their department for Leh in particular and for state in general. He said that the department has revised the annual calendar with 40 sporting events for every school in the state and added that they are working out plans to promote winter sports, marathon, hiking, mountaineering, etc in Ladakh. He said that they are making provisions to take students from Leh and Kargil districts to play in other parts of the state to give them exposure and learning experience. Besides, he said, “Sports promote the concept of integration and we are the guardian of the career of our children.” He added that there is need to recognize their talent and inculcate the potential for which his department is introducing new games and working on establishing sports academy in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
Issues related to regularization of staff, promotion of PETs were also pointed out in the meeting.
