Udhampur girls win Inter-District Volleyball Tourney

Leh,September 3 (Scoop News)-Inter district under Girls Under 17 Volleyball cup was lifted by Udampur district by defeating district Reasi in a straight set ( 25-05 and 25-13) played today at Indoor Stadium Leh. Organized by department of Youth Services & Sports J& K govt. jointly with DYSS, Leh, a total of 14 girls teams coming from Jammu, Kashmri and Ladakh region participated in the 3-day district level tournament. The girls of Samba defeated Badgam district to clinch the third position earlier.


The Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar who was chief guest on the closing day function congratulated the winning team in particular and all the young girls coming from Jammu and Kashmir region for participating in the tournament at Leh and said that until and unless any game is played in the true spirit of sportsmanship the purpose of sport is meaningless. He said that the purpose of sports is not only to make people physically fit but to develop unity, teamwork, brotherhood and most importantly to make sports persons mentally tough.


Talking about the new initiatives of department of Youth Services & Sports J& K govt under the visionary leadership of Jajangir Mir, Director General Youth Services & Sports J& K govt, CEC highly appreciated the vision of Sh. Jajangir in overall development of sports in J&K state and said that this is for the first time a district level tournament at Leh was organized in presence of Director General himself which will certainly boost of confidence and morale of DYSS, Leh, students and PET teachers of Leh district and hoped that all the grievances and issues of Leh district under the control of Director General DYSS J&K will be addressed at the earliest.

Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Jajangir Mir, Director General Youth Services & Sports J&K govt said that besides promoting sports in every district of the state, the main purpose of organizing this tournament at Leh is to give a platform to the students for interaction. He said that besides giving utmost attention to inherent sports of Leh district, the DYSS J&K will introduce more the 40 sports discipline in all the district of J&K at basic level with the vision to extract maximum and best talents at national level and also announced to increase the par day refreshment amount from Rs. 50 to Rs. 200 shortly for the sportspersons of J&K.
The Executive Councilor for Tourism, LAHDC, Leh Lassu Shafi, Azhar Hajini Publicity Officer YSS and other district level officers were present on the occasion.

A colorful cultural programme by the students of Sidarth High School Stok and Girls Higher Secondary school was also presented on the occasion....
