Congress holds protest demonstration at R.S.Pura



R.S.Pura, September 3 (Scoop News)-A strong protest demonstration was held at R.S.Pura town by the Congress workers and border residents of R.S.Pura, Ramgarh, Vijaypur and Suchetgarh areas, led by Former Minister and General Secretary PCC Sdr. Manjit Singh accompanied by S/Shri Rajnesh Sharma-Co Treasurer PCC; Th. Manmohan Singh-General Secretary PCC; Ch. Mohan Singh, Ch. Sukh Dev Singh, Badri Nath Sharma, Sandip Dogra, S. Jaswant Singh-Sarpanch, Swarn Singh-Sarpanch, Sarvan Singh, Sub. Bachan Lal, Des Raj, Ashok Kumar, Ch. Dewan Chand, Hav. Daulat Ram, Karnel Choudhary, Capt. Roop Lal, Ashok Choudhary and several other prominent leaders of the area.

The Congress leaders accompanied by large number of party workers including women, youth and students assembled near Main Chowk, R.S.Pura, Jammu today. They were carrying play cards in their hands amidst raising slogans burnt the effigy of Pakistan They criticized BJP led Coalition government in the state and BJP led NDA government at the centre for their failure to tackle with the cross border firing and mortar shelling.

Strongly protesting over the unabated firing from across the border causing loss of precious lives of innocent people and injuries to the civilians, the Congress leaders said that the worsening situation on the border and LOC has arisen, which is a cause of serious concern. They said that the hollowness of policies of present government on this front which is evident from the facts that more than around 700 cease fire violations has taken place during the period of 14 months, since the Modi government taken over which is highest number in such a period of past over three decades.

They demanded compensation to the firing victims to the tune of rupees 25 lakhs to those who loss their lives, rupees 20 lakhs to permanent disable persons and 5 lakhs to injured persons. They also demanded the government to immediately fulfill the promise of allotting of 5 marla plots to the identified population of IB & LOC as per promise in order to accommodate them in safer zones so that the innocent lives are saved from Pak firing.

The leaders also demanded that the 4% reservation should be given to ALC residents from Pargawal to Lakhanpur as the same is granted to the others parts of the state, so that the educated unemployed youths of these areas be benefited.

They also demanded the adequate compensation to the loss of properties, crops, cattle during the shelling, besides the government should compensate the farmers whose land is aside the fencing which they are not cultivating for the last over one year due to border disturbance.
