Real development comes with empowerment, self reliance, ability to earn livelihood: Bukhari
Srinagar, September 3 (Scoop News)-Minister for Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs, Relief & Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Thursday said that real development comes with empowerment, self reliance and when people are able to earn a living for themselves. He said need is to script a new story and break loose of the clichés to address the problem of unemployment through promotion of local entrepreneurship models.
The Minister stated this on the occasion of an Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme cum Loan Mela, organised by Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) and Jammu & Kashmir Women’s Development Corporation (JKWDC) at Dodhbugh in Sangrama Constituency.
Director JKEDI, Dr. M.I. Parray, Managing Director JKWDC, Dr. Naheed Soz, senior district officers and nodal district officers of JKEDI and JKWDC were present on the occasion.
The day long programme organised on the initiative of the Minister was attended by nearly 200 participants including women, senior citizens students and educated unemployed youth among others.
Addressing a well attended gathering, the Minister said that earnest efforts are being made by the government to be an enabler supporting people especially the youth and the women to explore and realize their inner potential and creativeness to earn livelihood for themselves and be self reliant. He said organisations like JKEDI and JKWDC have been handholding the youth and women from various sections and areas across the state.
The Minister said these organisation not only provide loan to individuals and self help groups (SHG) to establish a business unit, but also help them in the process through training and counselling. He further said that efforts are being made to promote skill and craftsmanship as a means of earning livelihood through introduction of various vocational, educational, skill development and other related schemes so as to encourage youth to take up entrepreneurship as a career option.
The Minister said that JKEDI is playing role of a pioneering institute of entrepreneurship development in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and in providing a pro- entrepreneurial environment to foster the progress and prosperity of the state. He further added JKWDC has also played an important role in empowering women through various initiatives and schemes.
The Minister also said that establishment of a skill development institute in the area is also under consideration, and it will be first of its kind in the valley where various skill development courses shall be taught to the locals, adding that such skills shall also help them earn a living for themselves.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion Director JKEDI and Managing Director JKWDC gave an overview of the activities being carried out by their respective organisations and schemes offered by them.
