Akhtar orders curative classes for students of Jammu school
Reviews work on Auditorium, Teacher Bhawan at GHS Gandhi Nagar

Jammu, September 3 (Scoop News)-In a maiden move of its kind, the Minister of Education, Naeem Akhtar, Thursday directed the authorities of a school in Jammu to start curative classes for academically weaker students.

The Minister made the announcement during an interaction with the students and staff of Boys Higher Secondary School (BHSS) in Jammu's Gandhi Nagar area.
"The Government has initiated various measures to make the academic journey of our students hassle-free so that they can compete not only at the national level, but international level as well and make our state proud," the Minister said.

Mr Akhtar took serious note of the casual approach adopted by the teachers at BHSS Gandhi Nagar, who had skipped checking the homework of the students on regular basis.
He directed the Chief Education Officer of Jammu to visit the school after a week to personally monitor the progress made by the teachers in improving the quality of education at the school.

"The casual approach of teachers will not only affect the students but the future of our state as well. Teachers must realise that they have a bigger role in shaping our society. They must change their attitude towards their jobs," the Minister said.
He also directed the authorities to setup one "Smart Classroom" for the benefit of the students at the school.
Earlier, the Minister reviewed the progress on the construction of Auditorium and Teacher Bhawan at the school. The new structures are being constructed by J&K Housing Board at a cost of Rs 6.5 crore and Rs 6.29 crore respectively.

Mr Akhtar interacted with students and teachers, and gave them directions for organising competitions with students of model schools and convent schools in the region. He also directed the Chief Education Officer of Jammu to start evening classes at the school.
The Minister directed the staff of the school to teach and converse with students in English medium in case of subjects where they have to write their papers in English.
