Appeals Government to roll back the additional tax on Petrol//Diesel

Jammu, July 27 (Scoop News)- Provincial President of Women Wing Satwant Kaur Dogra was today felicitated by the women delegate and workers of National Conference on her visit to Samba. She was welcomed and garlanded by the workers. Speaking on the occasion the newly appointed women wing Chief thanked entire senior leadership of National Conference for the trust they reposed in her and added that she will work hard to fulfill the aspiration and expectations of the womenfolk and will work diligently for welfare and dignity of women. She said her focus would be to strengthen the party at constituency level by mobilizing the grass root level women workers in the organization specially those living in the rural areas and added that women delegates from across the Jammu Province would be trained about the party's ideology and mission and appealed party workers to strengthen the party at grass root level.

She said that National Conference is committed for equality of women at all levels be it political, educational, economic, technological or social empowerment and will continue to raise issues of discrimination and prejudice against womenfolk of the state. She said that today women empowerment in state is reduced to a mere slogan as the present government is not doing anything for womenfolk except lip service. She highlighted the plight of female students living in far and flung areas and stressed that education in general and higher education in particular is insurance for women empowerment and called upon the government to ensure equality at all levels.

She criticized BJP-PDP combine for failure on all fronts and said that benefits of government schemes are not reaching the deserving poor womenfolk due to corruption and nepotism prevalent at all levels. She strongly condemned the imposition of additional tax on petrol /diesel and said that this move will increase the prices of consumer goods and commodities apart from hitting the industrial and construction sector. She appealed government for immediate roll back of this arbitrary increase in the state taxes on petrol and diesel. She also raised the issues of water, electricity and condition of roads and infrastructure alleging that poor governess has rendered the administration completely paralyzed and exhorted the administration to wake up from the deeper slumber and attend to the public issues.
